We got this game for Christmas, and just played it for the first time today. My boys are older (12 and 11) and my daughter is 5, and we laughed through the entire game. Some of the smells are unrecognizeable, but for the most part we were able to guess them. The ones we had trouble with were the ones like burning rubber, garbage, and chocolate. Others were easy to guess. My daughter had to guess on 3 cards and she got them all correct. Some of them, the scent is not that strong. However, all of the “good” smells were pretty accurate and fairly strong too. The garlic smell is VERY strong as is the onion smell, I would actually recommend storing those cards in a zip lock bag and just mixing them in for the game! Overall, I would say it’s good family fun.

P.U The Guessing Game of Smells is just that, it is a board game that you play with the whole family that you draw cards and have to guess the smell to advance and win the game. There are other non-scent based cards, but these are just fillers and are very easy.

The game is very fun to play the first time or two, but once you recognize all of the scents it becomes almost no challenge and the original wonder and excitement fades fast. Also with all the “bad” smell cards, the scents are very poorly done and you can barely guess what they are, except for garlic, the dirty socks, garbage, skunk all pretty much smell the same and don’t really smell like anything you can identify, so you almost always get those wrong.

The good smells are almost spot on especially the fruits though. My son enjoyed playing this game as did parents and grandparents, but after a while it loses its appeal.

One thing to note, if the cards are all stacked together some of the scents can mask other cards causing them all to smell the same, this is true especially of the bad scent cards. I heard they have scent packs with new and unique add-on smells to keep the game fun and these might be worthwhile.

Give a 7yr old boy a game named “PU” and watch his face just grin! Sit down to play a game of “PU” and be ready for the bordom. The “smell cards” are such a small aspect of playing the game, my grandson was bored to play. The play should involve a LOT more PU interaction. Also, not that I expected miracles, but the smells should be more readily identifiable to a child. Some adults reallllly had to use their imaginations to get the scent the card professed to have. It’s a great idea but poor execution. Save your money and buy Legos.

We were so excited to receive and play this game, but we have only been disappointed. Most of the smells are unrecognizable. My husband guessed grapes for 3 or 4 of the cards, and grapes isn’t even a choice. Most of the cards smelled just like… well, cardboard. I’m sad that we wasted our money on this game and even more sad that we disappointed our kids with this ‘stinky’ game.

This game is alot of fun for kids, and the board is really interesting. My kids play it with everyone that comes over and try for the bad smells:) I wish there were more games like this out.
